Director and visual effects extraordinaire Markus Lundqvist announced himself with his award-winning involvement on Lady Gaga’s music video ‘Paparazzi’ at the MVA’s; where he worked as visual effects artist winning a Moon-man for Best Special Effects. Since then, his expertise has been called upon by the likes of Daft Punk, Beyonce and Nero as well as Mercedes, Budweiser, Burberry and H&M.
Markus honed his filmmaking craft during his youth in Sweden, during which time he comprehensively documented the country’s renowned heavy metal scene on film. The long nights and dark days spent editing that satanic subject matter probably informed his aesthetic – dark, creative and highly technical.
This experience, alongside his obsession with the epic scale of movies like “2001: A Space Odyssey” give Markus’ work its sense of noir-futurism. This, combined with his status as one of the world’s top visual effects artists makes Markus a compelling proposition for brands and artists looking to inject their film with a little dark magic. He’s also into snowboarding and skateboarding. A lot.
